Self-study family training
Duo's self-study family training course has been designed to offer an insight into the fascinating world of the intercultural couple and their journey into parenthood. The course includes a number of features that are designed to help intercultural couples through the process of having and raising children in an intercultural environment. Expert advice will be coupled with homework, audio and video clips, discussion topics and bonus material in order to give the couples a rounded self-study course.
A number of topics that intercultural families have to deal with, such as combining different cultures, bi-/multilingualism and child’s language development will be discussed, as well as the very crux of the concept. The course will take into account expert opinion on the subject, as well as first-hand accounts and information from people who are parents of intercultural families themselves.
The course is free and you can take part whenever and wherever you like. All you need is a computer, an internet connection and speakers.
The project group consisted of project manager (Ms Hanna Kinnunen, Duo), project coordinator (Ms Tanja del Angel, Duo) and part-time project worker (Mr Craig Houston). The project was funded by the Family Federation (Väestöliitto).
